American Bungalow in Berkshire

Welcome to our American Bungalow which we’ve been hiring out for photo and film shoots since the Summer of 2021. Situated on the Renway designed Edgcumbe Park Estate in Crowthorne, Berkshire, which completed construction in 1970 and was the film set for the 1969 movie Fahrenheit 451 featuring Julie Christy (the lead character Montague lived in a Bungalow like ours, that’s how we discovered the estate) it’s proving popular for all kinds of productions. We’ve had a 5 day shoot for River Island Kids, a Music Video for Griff, a Corporate Film for Deloitte, a Channel 4 Documentary, a Commercial for Honeywell Delivery Company, a Netflix shoot for Black Mirror Season 6, a Promo Film for Adidas Stan Smith, an Amazon shoot for The Devil’s Hour and, in the Summer of 23, a really cool music video for Royal Blood!

A little walk by of our house showing the beauty of the street and the sun splitting the trees. Video was taken at 3pm in the afternoon in May.

Vital Stats…

  • Retro, Mid-Century, American Ranch Style Bungalow

  • 2 x bedrooms (one is our Son’s room so that can be used by negotiation)

  • 1 x Office/Green Room with sofa and a Professional Voiceover Booth

  • 1 x family bathroom + 1 x “Crew Loo” on the Patio

  • Large Patio to the rear with an undercover bar area and a very cool exterior patio toilet

  • Spacious Garden Studio which is ideal for production/makeup/wardrobe/green room (There’s WiFi out there too)

  • 2 x driveways which can take up to 5 crew vehicles/vans (we’ve accommodated giant cranes & generators on the larger drive)

  • Free on street parking plus friendly neighbours who are more than happy to rent out their driveways for extra crew parking

  • Just a short jaunt from London down the M4 (junction 10) and M3 (junction 3) then only 10-15 mins to ours once you leave the motorways. Honestly, it’s quicker to get here from London that it is to drive across London so, go on, dare to go beyond the M25!!

Adam and I are very experienced at having crews at the house and we’ll be as flexible as possible to accommodate any production here. As a former TV Floor Manager, I’m very savvy. As is Adam, who is a Location Scout, we both know the drill!

The house is represented by some of the best Location Agencies in London so please just let us know which one you’d like to book the house through. Contact us on jen@jenniferjohnston.tv to make an enquiry in the first instance.

Here are all the best pics…

Exterior Front…

The house sits on a spacious plot with a large grassy lawn out front. The street is wide and generous and mostly very quiet, both in terms of noise and traffic.

Interior…

The Lounge/Dining/Kitchen are all open plan and very spacious, with large picture windows, a bright hallway leading to the rear of the house. There’s also photos of the main bedroom, bathroom and office with Voiceover Booth, available to hire if required. The foyer takes you to the front door and back door to the patio area, as well as the garage.

Patio & Garden Studio…

Our rear patio is spacious and minimalist, with room for lots of people and storage of equipment. The undercover bar area has lighting and power and is perfect for setting up a tea/coffee station or production hub. There’s also a very handy Patio Toilet, affectionately known as the “Crew Loo”. That said, any crew over the size of 15, would probably still require a Honeywagon as back up, there’s plenty of space to park one. The Garden Studio is spacious, warm and comfortable, and has power and Wifi, perfect for use as a green room/make up/wardrobe or production office.
